Walk for Autism Speaks

Ciaran and I will be walking for Autism as part of "Aidan's A Team" on April 24th. Aidan is my best friend Jaymi's son and Ciaran's good friend. I am constantly impressed with how smart and funny he is, and I know Ciaran will look up to him as he gets older.

People Food!

About a week ago, Ciaran started eating big people food. He started out with rice cereal, and has had bananas and sweet potatoes since then.

He loved the rice cereal. He loved the rice cereal mixed with bananas. He is still not sure about bananas by themselves and makes the most hilarious face when he first tastes it. We have yet to capture that look on camera, hopefully we will be able to because it is priceless.

Tonight was his first taste of sweet potatoes and he seemed to love them.

Andrew has been making all his food for him and is already looking forward to the days when he can get more creative with what he serves.

Some pictures of his first meal:

The First Bite

We had to hold down his arms to keep him from grabbing the spoon/the bowl/us. He wanted to eat it all much faster then we could feed it to him.

We eventually gave up

He was sad when it was all gone.

Here are a few shots from tonight's foray into sweet potato territory:

St. Patrick's Day

St. Patrick's Day is a big day for us, not only because we are irish (some of us more then others), but because it is my birthday! It is one of the few (if not the only) holidays that I like, and I will go completely overboard with it when I can. We all dressed in green of course, and Ciaran was representing the South Side of Chicago!

Ciaran managed to spit up so much we had to quickly wash his shirt in order for him to be presentable for dinner. He does have a least 5 outfits with shamrocks that would have been appropriate but his South Side Irish shirt is the most special. Here he is waiting for his shirt to dry:

The Happiest Place on Earth!

Andrew, Ciaran and I went to Disneyland with Auntie Shannon, Heather and her girls Candace and Audrey, and our friend Marissa and her daughter Kylie. We all had so much fun, and Ciaran was so good the whole day. Andrew will not let me get away with posting about Disneyland and not mentioning the epic meltdowns on the way home, but it was worth it. We got a season pass so we can go again and again and again!!

We're here! This is Disneyland Bubba!

Waiting in line for his first ride ever: Snow White!

Getting seated for his first ride ever!!

And we're off! (Notice Andrew and I attempting to keep Ciaran from touching the nasty dirty lap bar!)

Aw, Happily Ever After!

Having some fun in line for the carousel

"This is shiny! I wonder if I can eat it?"

Audrey and Ciaran racing

Ciaran got bored with just going in circles so he decided to play rodeo. I think that makes Andrew the clown :)

It's a small world!

Mama's tired!

Captain EO! Ciaran fell asleep in the movie despite the loud noises. It helped that the whole theater actually rocked up and down.

Obligatory photo at the entrance.

Ciaran and Audrey making everyone laugh.

"OK guys, I think I see the tram!"

6 Months!

Ciaran turned 6 months old today. Looking back at old pictures it's hard to remember when he was so small. He is all over the place now, rolling and trying so hard to crawl. He weighs almost 16 pounds which I think is huge, but according to the doctor he is just a little peanut in the 20th percentile for his age.

Family Dinner

Dave, Andrew and Ciaran made a dinner to celebrate Gma's and my birthday. It was irish/alcohol themed with Corned Beef, Black and Tan Potatoes, Grilled Veggies, and Banana Ice Cream with Rum and toasted coconut! Uncle Shaughn and Aunt Kelly came over to help celebrate. Ciaran actually let Uncle Shaughn hold him; a big step!

The boys in the kitchen. Looks like Ciaran is the only one taking his job seriously!

This doesn't happen often. For some reason Ciaran is usually scared of Uncle Shaughn :(
